My engagement photos differ from my wedding photos in that I often pose more of my engagement photos. However, I work at being very flexible and keeping the posing natural and relaxed. I give general posing suggestions, but, in order to keep things relaxed, I don't tweak every finger, wrist, elbow, arm, leg, and neck - not to mention facial expressions (however, if I see something in the setting that doesn't look right - I'll point it out). I try to put the couple in a relaxed setting and allow them to simply "be themselves." A lot of times we'll setup and take some pictures looking at the camera, several looking at each other, and several looking into the distance. After that, we move on to a different setting. I am also very open to any suggestions or ideas the couple has in relation to settings they would like.
I vary the types of photos that I take - from close ups to wide angle environmentals, posed couple shots to casual walking hand-in-hand photos. I start with digital "color pictures" and change them to black and white at the customers discretions.
